GT Designer3 ANDON function settings

GT Designer3 ANDON function settings

This is specification of ANDON function.
The document describes how to set got mobile function, which is necessary to run ANDON function.
In the next section connection ANDON with SQL Database is provided

Summary: The ANDON function enables a specific client to connect to the GOT without the operator name and password-based authentication(The authentication screen does not appear).  This function is usable for applications, such as an andon display. You can specify a set of a personal computer and a large-screen monitor as a client to display mobile screens.

GOT Mobile settings

1 Setting the GOT Mobile  function

After creating a new project under the appropriate GOT panel in the GT Designer3
software, enable the GOT Mobile functions.

Now you need to set the authentication settings such as [operator] and [password], which
will be required when trying to connect, eg from a tablet.

Assign GOT Mobile devices (VGD, VGB) that are used with mobile screens to GOT
internal devices. The GOT Mobile devices (VGB and VGD) are virtual devices usable
for clients. Multiple clients can be controlled individually since different GOT internal
devices are assigned for each client.

Set the screen switching device of mobile screens that are displayed on an information
device such as a tablet.

2 Creating a mobile screen

We need to create a new mobile screen displayed on a browser of an information device
such as a tablet.

3 Setting the GOT connection

Ethernet
If you want to connect via Ethernet, you only need to connect the PC to the GOT with
an Ethernet cable.
We check the IP address of the GOT panel. Go to [Common] -> [GOT Ethernet Setting]
-> [GOT IP Address Setting]

In this window we set IP of our GOT panel.
When PC is connected with GOT panel through Ethernet cable, enter the given IP address
in the web browser.

WLAN
Mount a wireless LAN communication unit on the GOT to connect the GOT to an
information device, such as a tablet. Set the IP address of the connected wireless LAN
communication unit.
Click [Common] -> [GOT Setup] -> [Advanced Setting] -> [Wireless LAN Setting]

Now follow steps below.

4 Register the GOT Mobile function license number in the GOT

Register the GOT Mobile function license number required for using the GOT Mobile
function in the GOT unit.

ANDON connected to database

1  Database creation

The complete installation of the SQL server for ANDON functionality is described in the documentation “FA Application Package iQ Monozukuri ANDON – Startup Manual” attached in the appendices of this document.

Chapter 9 of this documentation explains the creation of a database management system step by step.
Pages 202-208 deal with the development process. The rest of this chapter explains the basics of SQL server databases, this knowledge may come in handy later.
Please see "Deletion of ANDON DB" in subchapter 9.4 on page 220. There they explain how to delete the entire created database. This will prove to be helpful in the event that the AndonDatabase installer exits with an error. It is not possible to run the installer again if there are files from a previous installation.

Possible errors while installing ANDON Database

You can check the installation log in the location “C:\Users\[your user]\AppData\Local\MITSUBISHI\AndonDatabase\Log”. There is also information about errors. File “setup.log” contains information about application and file “sqlcmd.log” contains information from SQL server.

  • If you only see information in “setup.log” file and error occurs just after “PM The ANDON database is being created...” then its problem with configuration of the SQL server. Try to follow documentation again. If problem still occur, try to reinstall whole SQL server.
  • While error occur and its connected with SQL server, when there will be more info in “sqlcmd.log” file. There is also information how to deal with this problem.

After fixing the cause of the error, delete the ANDON DB environment before executing the ANDON DB creation tool again.

2.   ANDON Contents publisher

The ANDON system operation via ANDON Contents publisher is described in the “FA Application Package iQ Monozukuri ANDON - Operating Manual” documentation in the appendices of this document. You can also watch a video on YouTube entitled "iQ Monozukuri Content Publisher Quick Start Guide", which clearly shows the operation of the software (link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AT4kDxCxsPM).

3. Connecting GOT to database

To connect the GOT with the database, install the program "DB connection service and setting tool Version2". This program mediates between the panel and the ODBC interface.

The installer is on GT Works3 “Disk5”.

After installing "DB connection service and setting tool Version2" you need to configure ODBC on your computer.

Run "ODBC Data Sources" applications from the start menu as administrator.

Choose version according to previously installed  “DB connection service and setting tool Version2”. Regardless of the version you choose, adding a new data source is the same.

The [ODBC Data Sources Administrator] window will open.

Click on the [DNS System] tab.

Click [Add… ] button in the tab that appears.

In window that appear scroll down and select “SQL Server Native Client 11.0” and click finish.

In the new window that appeared, enter "iQMADN" in the [Name] field. Then in the [Server] field select from list your SQL server "...\SQLEXPRESS" and click [Next >].

Now enable [With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user] option.

Then enter login and password to a database user “gotuser”. Default password can be checked in the documentation on page 209.

In field [Login ID] enter “gotuser” and in field [Password] enter default password “Andon”.

After that click [Next >].

Enable [Change the default database to:] option.

Then select “iQMADN” from drop-dawn list in first field. Click [Next >].

In next view just click [Finish] option.

In the window that appears, we can check the entire configuration of the ODBC data source. There is also an option [Test Data Source...] which allows you to check the source made

If the message "TEST COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY" appears, it means that the created source has been correctly configured.

Click [OK] to quit configuration window.

Now you can check if newly created source appear in [System DNS] tab.

Setting on GT Designer3

Select [Common] → [GOT Mobile Setting] from the menu to display the [GOT Mobile Setting] window. In[ANDON Setting], select [Use ANDON function].

Select a client number targeted for the ANDON function.

a) Use ANDON function
Enables connection between the GOT and clients without the     operator name and password-based authentication.

b)   Target Client No.

      1.     Select the target client number of the ANDON function.
      2.    The selected client connects to the GOT without the operator name and password-based authentication.

      3.    Connection using the GOT Mobile exclusive authentication or the operator authentication is not applicable.

Setting on GOT

In [ANDON connection] of the utility, set the IP address of a client targeted for the ANDON function.

In the Utility menu select Ext. func. settings

In the [ANDON connection] menu -  Touch the down arrow of the [ANDON IP filter usage] list box, and select [Yes].

  1. Touch a start IP address entry box in the [Target IP address] column to display a software keyboard.
  2. Input a value with the keyboard.
  3. Touch the [OK] button to display a restart confirmation dialog. Restart the GOT to operate with the new setting

URL parameter setting

When you enter the URL of the destination GOT on the address bar in the browser, add the parameter for enabling the ANDON function.

Displaying a mobile screen on the client upon power-on

A client can display a mobile screen upon power-on without specific operations, such as logging into the OS, starting a browser, and entering a URL on the address bar.
The following shows the setting method to achieve this behavior by using Windows 7 and Google Chrome (for Windows) as an example.

Set the destination of a Google Chrome shortcut by specifying the URL of the destination GOT and the parameter for enabling the ANDON function.
Create a Google Chrome shortcut, and select [Properties] from the right-click context menu.
In the [Shortcut] tab of the [Google Chrome Properties] dialog, add the URL and parameter to [Target] as shown below.
