Detailed description how to configure connection between GENESIS V11 and MX Controller using MELSOFT Connection. The controller model used in this example was MXF100-16-P32.
Connection to MX Controller was introduced in GENESIS version 11.05 and will not be supported in earlier releases. The list of supported devices is available in online documentation:
Remember that your PC has to have the static IP address in the same subnet as PLC. MX Controller Port 2 default address is 192.168.3.39
MX Controller side configuration in GX Works3
MELSOFT Connection protocol to communicate between GENESIS and PLC is available on Port 2 (Ethernet) of the MX Controller. Port 1 cannot be used for this connection as it's dedicated for CC-Link IE TSN protocol. Make sure to select Ethernet+CC-Link IE TSN as the Built-in Network Type when creating your GX Works3 project:
Open Your MX Controller project in GX Works3 to add a new MELSOFT Connection.
Go to the Navigation tree -> Parameter -> *your controller model*-> Module Parameter (Port 2: Ethernet).
Then from the Module Parameter (Ethernet) tab please open External Device Configuration -> Detailed Setting:
Drag and drop MELSOFT Connection Module from Module List -> Ethernet Device (General):
Save settings nad close window (Close with Reflecting the setting)
Please don't forget to apply the settings.
Rebuild the project.
Send the project to the PLC.
GENESIS side configuration in Workbench
1a. Adding a connection via Network Discovery
In Workbench go to the Project Explorer: Data Connectivity -> Mitsubishi Electric FA -> Network Discovery:
Click the Start Discovery button:
If your device was found on the network, select it and click Import to add it to your project:
1b. Adding a connection manually
In Workbench go to the Project Explorer: Data Connectivity -> Mitsubishi Electric FA -> Add MELSEC:
Set the name of your device and all the necessary parameters:
CPU Series and Type
Connection Channel (Ethernet Access)
PC I/F Settings -> IP address - IP of the network card on your server used for the connection
MELSEC I/F Settings -> IP Address - IP of the MX Controller
You can then test if your settings are correct:
Find your device in the project tree and click Add Tag Group in the context menu:
You can also use the Import global labels... option to import labels from your .gx3 project file, but for that your GENESIS server needs to have GX Works3 installed.
Name your tag group, add tags and remmeber to apply any changes.
It is also possible to import global labels here from a CSV file exported from GX Works3.
Now open the context menu on your device and click Activate Device.
Your connection is now working and tags are ready to use. You should be able to find them in the Data Browser in GraphWorX:
You can also check the connection status using Data Explorer:
