ME96 and MAPS connected by Modbus RTU

This document shows how to connect electronic multi-measuring instrument ME96-MB to MAPS SCADA via Modbus RTU. Connection is using MOXA 1130 converter RS485 to USB

Configuration MOXA converter

Searching MOXA in device manager


 

The most important information is which Port is using by this converter. In this example converter uses COM2. This port will be set in configuration device in MAPS.

Setting Port communication parameters

Set the parameters of serial communication in MOXA USB Serial Port
 

Configuration UPort 1130 in device manager

Search UPort 1130 in device manger and set ports configuration by clicking Port Setting
 
 

Next choose port number (the same which is using by MOXA USB Serial Port) and set interface which is using to connect to ME96 with MOXA. In this example, ME96 is connecting with 2 wire by RS485.
 


MAPS Config Editor 

Install new driver

First install new driver in MAPS Config Editor. 
Run MAPS Config Editor -> Configuration-> Agent Server ->Driver Configuration
 

If new open window is empty, choose path to folder with drivers by clicking button […] 
 

Default path to folder with drivers is folder where MAPS is installed:
C:\Program Files(x86)\Adroit Technologies\Adroit\Drivers
 

After that choose Modbus I (RTU and ASCII)
 

Add new device

After install driver, add new device under this protocol driver.
Right click on Modbus I Protocol Driver and Add device
Enter the device name:
 

Configure new device

After add new device, configure it. 
Set the PLC Details and Local Details as below: 
 

MAPS Designer

Add new agent 

Add new Analog Agent in Open Configurator and Scan it.
 

Always add 400001 to address

For example when read address 768 in Agent set address as 400769.
 

Troubleshooting

If address is illegal the communication will be unhealthy and after correcting address must RESTART Agent Server! 
Similar situation is when parameter was changed in Modbus Protocol Driver
