Modbus configuration

Modbus RTU configuration in MR-JE-A and MR-J4-A

This document describes connection and configuration of MR-JE and MR-J4 using MODBUS RTU. 

Wiring for MR-JE-_A

Up to 32 axes Of servo amplifiers can be operated and controlled on one bus. 


Half duplex wiring 

Wire the system as shown below. 

Note:
  1. Connector set MR-J3CN1 (3M or equivalent)
    1. Connector: 10150-3000PE 
    2. Shell kit: 10350-52F0-008 
  2. Connect TRE and RON on the last axis. 
  3. The total extension length should be 30 m or shorter in a low-noise environment
  4. When a Modbus-compatible controller does not have a termination resistor, terminate the wire ends with a resistor of 150 Ω

Full duplex wiring 

Wire the system as shown below. 


Note:
  1. Connector set MR-J3CN1 (3M or equivalent) 
    1. Connector: 10150-3000PE 
    2. Shell kit: 10350-52F0-008 
  2. Connect TRE and RON on the last axis. 
  3. The total extension length should be 30 m or shorter in a low-noise environment
  4. When a Modbus-compatible controller does not have a termination resistor, terminate the wire ends with a resistor of 150 Ω

Sample paramter setting

For basic communication you need to set parameters:
  1. PC70 – station number
  2. PC71 – 
    1. _ _ _ x – communication protocol selection
    2. _ _ x _ - communication baud rate selection
  3. PF45 – _ _ _ x -  communication parity selection
For operating input devices via the MODBUS-RTU communication:
PC71 – _ 0 _ _ 
PA01 – _ _ _ 6 or _ _ _ 7 - control mode

For operating input devices via DI:
  1. PC71 – _ 1 _ _
  2. PA01 –
    1. from _ _ _ 0 to _ _ _ 7 for MR-JE-_A
    2. from _ _ _ 0 to _ _ _ 8 for MR-J4-_A_- RJ
