MX Controller Motion – System Configuration

This is the first part of the MX Controller Motion Quick
Start Guide series.

In this section, you will learn how to:
- configure the CC-Link IE TSN network with servo amplifiers and an RIO station,
- configure the axes on the Motion side,
- write the project to the PLC CPU,
(1) Select Project → New.
In the window shown below, select the MX Controller model being used and the programming language to be used in the PLC.
In this example, the MX Controller model is set to MXF100-16 and the programming language is set to FBD/LD.
After making the selections, click OK.
(2) When the following window appears, select whether you want to protect the project in the Controller.
(3) When the following window appears, select whether you want to use module labels and sample comments.
To change this setting, click Setting Change.
Click OK to open the project.
(4) Double-click Module Configuration in the project tree.
When the window shown below appears, click OK.
After opening the Module Configuration screen, right-click the module and select "Change Controller Model Name(U)" to set the Controller model name used in your application. If your application uses additional modules, drag and drop them into the Module Configuration.
When the Module Configuration diagram is complete, close the Module Configuration window. If you are prompted to select Fix Parameters, confirm the operation to enable the use of additional modules.
In this section, configure the settings for the devices that will be connected to the network.
In the project tree, go to Parameter → MXF100-16 → Module Parameter (Port1 CC-Link IE TSN) → Module Parameter (CC-Link IE TSN). Select Basic Settings in the setting item list and open Detailed Setting.
Add the devices to be connected to the CC-Link IE TSN network to the network configuration.
(1) Expand General Purpose AC Servo in the list on the left.
(2) Drag and drop the servo
amplifier you want to add.
(3) Add any other CC-Link IE TSN devices that you want to use in your network.
Check that the IP address set in the servo parameters, or the last octet of the IP address set using the rotary switches on the CC-Link IE TSN devices, matches the setting in the network configuration.
When the CC-Link IE TSN devices are already connected to the MX Controller, you can automatically detect all connected devices. To do this, click Connected/Disconnected Module Detection. This will detect all connected modules and recognize them with their corresponding IP addresses.
When the configuration is complete, close the CC-Link IE TSN Configuration window by selecting Close with Reflecting the Setting from the top menu.
A pop-up window will appear informing you that PDO mapping has not been assigned. The easiest option is to assign the default PDO mapping by clicking Yes.
In the Module Parameter (CC-Link IE TSN) window, you can adjust the CC-Link IE TSN cycle period and other settings. However, these settings are not required to start a standard application.
Confirm the settings by clicking Apply. A pop-up window for Axis Assignment will appear. You can modify the axis names and then click Create to confirm the settings. The axes with the assigned names will then appear in the project tree.
Before writing the project to the PLC, rebuild the project. Go to the Convert menu and select Rebuild All. In the pop-up window that appears, select the option to create execution programs and click OK.
After the project has been converted, select Write to PLC from the Online menu. To write the project to the Controller, select Parameter + Program at the top of the window and confirm the operation by clicking Execute.
After the project has been successfully written to the Controller, restart the MX Controller.
The network status can be checked directly on the Controller. If the D. LINK indicator is green and there are no link errors, data is being exchanged between all devices. The network status can also be checked using the GX Works3 diagnostics tool.
The network diagnostics function provides information about the connection status of the modules. It can be used to verify whether the servo amplifiers are correctly parameterized and connected. To open the diagnostics tool, go to: Diagnostics → CC-Link IE TSN/CC-Link IE Field Diagnostics.
The window is divided into several sections:
(1) Select Diagnostic Destination – In this section, you can select the module to monitor and the station to be displayed. You can also switch between stations by clicking their icons in the network map.
(2) Monitor Status – This section provides information about the monitor status. You can also stop the monitoring function and start it again.
(3) Network Status – This section provides information about the number of stations with errors, the total number of connected stations, and the number of stations configured in the parameters.
(4) Selected Station Communication Status Monitor – This section displays an icon representing the module's front panel, including its LED indicators, as well as a graphical representation of the physical connections.
